The Orchestra Of Souls project began when Johnny Simons gave me a voice recorder on which he had recorded himself singing and playing piano - over 40 original songs. In his typical humble fashion he said “Here are some songs I wrote, maybe there are a few on here you can do something with”. Over the next year and a half I created the music and we recorded the 13 songs. Lake Worth Monster was based on a recording of Douglas Balentine singing and playing piano. Lava Molemo was based on a recording Johnny made when he was at Duke University. The music for Lake Meditation was written and recorded by John Dyer. We invited singers and musicians who had worked with Hip Pocket Theater over the years to contribute their talents. The videos for each song were designed and created by Lois Leftwich and me. Loli Kantor contributed her wonderful photos, and other photos were taken from the Hip Pocket website. The DVDs are available through Hip Pocket Theater, or you can contact me for one.
